About the Festival

This year’s festival is titled “Music: Inside & Out”, featuring an intensive (and fun!) series of classes and guest workshops organized for the purpose of enhancing all facets of students’ musicianship at the keyboard.

Festival participants will explore the “inside” of the music – learning to play and transcribe by ear, creatively analyze and interpret scores, imitate their favorite composers through model composition, and discover the inner workings of world class concert grands. This 3-dimensional approach to music will enable them to better enjoy and excel at the “outside” of music when performing, improvising, and collaborating with their peers.

In contrast to previous years, there will be no student competition held in 2024. However, students will be inspired by the ultimate competition experience, traveling to Salt Lake City to attend a quarterfinal performance at the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition.
