Overview

The Wind Orchestra, the "flagship ensemble" of the USU Bands, is a 45-member ensemble of the finest wind and percussion players in the school.  It plays the finest in contemporary wind music as well as time-tested standards from the band repertoire.  The Wind Orchestra performs three concerts each semester, and entrance is gained to the ensemble by audition at the outset of each semester.  The ensemble has performed at the Utah Music Educators Convention and the College Band Directors National Association Western Division Conference.

Symphonic Band

The Symphonic Band is open to all full-time USU students. No audition is required. The only audition is for chair placement.

Overview

The Symphonic Band is a 90-member ensemble made up of students who enjoy music-making in a large band setting.  The Fall Symphonic Band performs one concert at the end of the semester, while the Spring Symphonic Band performs two concerts. The membership of the Symphonic Band represents USU's finest students from all disciplines on campus who enjoy continuing their band experience while pursuing the degree program of their choice.

Overview

Cache Wind Symphony logo

The Cache Wind Symphony is affiliated with the Utah State University Band Program as a co-curricular wind and percussion ensemble for community members and university students. Membership opportunities are based on ensemble need and filled with permission of the directors.

The Symphony exists in a dual role between the local community and the USU Band Program. It operates as a subset of the Cache Community Band, a non-profit community organization that is comprised of three groups: Cache Wind Symphony, Cache Community Parade Band, and Cache Community Jazz Band.

The overall organization is directed and governed by a Board of Directors with independent bylaws. As part of the USU Bands, the Cache Wind Symphony is a wind and percussion ensemble performing as a concert band and under the primary directorship of a board-appointed director, supervised, overseen, or co-directed by USU band faculty.

Aggie Marching Band

Marching Band is open to all USU students. Membership auditions are required for Drumline and Color Guard. Placement auditions in other sections are held as needed. All AMB members are required to attend Marching Band Camp before classes start in August and are expected to participate in the full AMB season.

Overview

The Aggie Marching Band performs at all home football games and select away games with post-season bowl games appearances in Los Angeles, Frisco, Albuquerque, Tucson, Las Vegas, San Diego, and Boise. The Band has also appeared in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Dublin, Ireland. The AMB serves as a centerpiece for Aggie athletic spirit and excellence in musical performance. Scholarships and stipends are available.

The Aggie Pep Band is open to all USU students. Auditions occur in early October with placement priority given to Aggie Marching Band members. The season begins in late October or early November & students can register for credit in the spring semester. Contact Dr. Weaver for details.

Overview

The high-energy Aggie Pep Band performs at home games for both Men’s and Women’s Basketball and helps make the Spectrum one of the toughest venues in the Mountain West Conference. Each spring the Aggie Pep Band hits the road to play at the conference tournament in Las Vegas and joins the Aggies for the NCAA tournament or other post-season events. All members receive a stipend for their service.

Overview

Founded in 1963 by Dr. Max F. Dalby, the USU Summer Alumni Concert Band has performed on campus each summer for the last 50+ years, presenting a series of five concerts that celebrate Logan’s beautiful summers and the accomplishments of the university and Aggie alumni.

Summer 2022 Concerts:

- July 31

Concerts begin at 7:00pm either on the Quad or in the Daines Concert Hall.
