Biography
Nate Ostermiller is a professional guitarist residing in Northern Utah. He released his first album, If I Should Care, in 2019 leading a trio with bassist Braun Khan and drummer Jason Nicholson. It consists of his own arrangements of jazz standards. Nate is currently a member of the guitar faculty at Utah State University. He has appeared on the television show Top Gear USA (Season 6 Ep. 2), where he played the national anthem. He performs regularly with the Utah Symphony, the Utah Festival Opera and Musical Theatre, the Jon Gudmundson Quartet, the Larry Smith Orchestra, as well as his own groups. Nate has also performed with Audra McDonald, The Midtown Men, Michael Feinstein, Ellis Hall, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Morgan James, Sutton Foster, Dave Bennett, Rachel York, Melissa Errico, Capathia Jenkins, Michael Lynche, Constantine Maroulis, Hugh Panaro, Rachel Potter, the American Festival Chorus and Orchestra, and Leaping Lulu. Nate received his Bachelors Degree in Guitar Performance from Utah State University along with many awards and honors including the Outstanding Guitarist Award several years in a row. There he studied with renowned guitarist and educator, Mike Christiansen. For his Master’s Degree in Jazz Studies, Nate attended Indiana University where he studied with a world class jazz faculty including the current director of USU's Guitar Dept. Corey Christiansen, Jeremy Allen, and legendary jazz educator David Baker.
