“Dark Winds Rising” – Logan Canyon Winds

Logan Canyon Winds present a program of contrasting moods; at the center of the recital is Philip Bimstein’s Dark Winds Rising, a musical reflection on the plan to build a toxic waste incinerator on Native American lands, featuring recorded voices of impacted individuals. Other selections on the program include Debussy’s classic “Girl with the Flaxen Hair,” Deslandres’ beautiful Quintet, and a new arrangement of Bartok’s Transylvanian Dances by Logan Canyon Winds’ own Lauren Hunt. The program also features the hopeful and energetic Quintet No. 1 by Giuseppe Cambini.

Chamber Music Society of Logan: American Brass Quintet

The American Brass Quintet is internationally recognized as one of the premier chamber music ensembles of our time, celebrated for peerless leadership in the brass world. ABQ commissions are considered significant contributions to contemporary chamber music performance and training as part of its regular touring. Through its acclaimed performances, diverse programming, commissioning, extensive discography and educational mission, the American Brass Quintet has created a legacy unparalleled in the brass field. Committed to the promotion of brass chamber music through education, the American Brass Quintet has been in residence at The Julliard School since 1987 and the Aspen Music Festival since 1970.

Gabe Kovach: Guest Artist Horn Recital

Gabriel Kovach, born in Philadelphia Pennsylvania, is active as both a chamber and orchestral musician. Mr. Kovach has been Principal Horn of the Phoenix Symphony since 2006. Previously, he has held positions as both the Principal Horn of the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia and the Opera Company of Philadelphia.

Symphonic Band

Concerts are part for the band large ensembles curriculum. As capstone events, they typically occur twice per semester. Students are required to participate in these events as a large part of their grades, and these concerts are the culmination of several weeks of classroom rehearsals. All concerts are associated with one or more of the following band ensembles MUSC 4700 Wind Orchestra, MUSC 795 Wind Symphony, MUSC 3790 Symphonic band, MUSC 3785 Marching Band.

Alexander Malofeev: Wassermann Piano Series

Since winning his first major international competition at age 13, pianist Alexander Malofeev has captured the world’s attention. Now 21 years old, Malofeev regularly performs with top orchestras around the world, garnering critical praise for his technical prowess and emotional maturity. A first-time Wassermann Series artist, Malofeev’s program includes Beethoven’s enchanting “Moonlight” Sonata, Polish composer Mieczslaw Weinberg’s B Minor Sonata, and Rachmaninoff’s sweeping Piano Sonata No. 2.
Jazz Jams

An eagerly awaited tradition around the Music Department is our series of monthly jam sessions, in which a guest artist (or two or three) from outside Cache Valley visits to perform jazz standards with USU students and community members in a relaxed environment. Come and sit in on a tune, or just sit back, relax, and enjoy the music. Jam sessions are completely unscripted, so you never know what exactly will happen, but it’s great fun watching musicians perform without a net!

Adept in writing and arranging music and experienced in digital composition and recording processes. Instrumental in problem-solving and handling tasks with accuracy and efficiency while maintaining excellent communication and time management skills.
